Before coating with flour the tomato slices are seasoned with salt and pepper. After seasoning, it is coated with flour and then deep into beaten egg. Before deep frying, it is dredged with cornmeal for crisp texture. For better results, make sure the temperature of cooking oil is between 355°F to 375°F.

- 4 Fresh Green Tomatoes cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 3/4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 cup cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup corn meal
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/3 tsp paprika
- a pinch of cayenne
- Vegetable oil for deep frying
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Place green tomatoes on a plate and season both sides with salt, lemon juice, and pepper.
- Place beaten egg and flour in two different pot.
- Now take another bowl and combine corn meal, cayenne, salt, and paprika in it.
- Take seasoned tomato slices and lightly coat both sides with flour then deep into the beaten egg.
- Next, dredge it with the corn meal mixture.
- Pour enough cooking oil into a heavy large frying pan and heat it at 355°F.
- Now place dredged tomato slices in the cooking oil and fry in batches. Fry both sides until golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and place on kitchen paper to drain extra oil.
- Sprinkle a little salt on it and serve hot with mayonnaise, or sauces.
